If your skin isn’t looking healthy and radiant despite washing it twice a day, don’t get mad and throw away your cleansers just yet!

You’re only one, or shall I say, two steps away from escaping the dull and tired skin matrix.

Double cleansing is a real game-changer when paired with the right moisturizer.

Forget strobe creams, you’ll want to walk out the door with just a skin tint and cream blush in the bag.

As the name suggests, you wash your face first with an oil-based cleanser and then follow it up with a water-based or foaming one.

The oil emulsifies any sweat, sebum, dirt, makeup, and sunblock on your face, making sure you get all the stubborn residue off your skin.

With nothing trapped underneath your pores, there’s barely any scope for acne or breakouts. This way, you also don’t overly strip your skin of its natural moisture levels.

Pro Tip: Always use your product on dry skin, before adding water and emulsifying for best results!

Oil-based cleansers come in three different forms:

  • Balm
  • Oil
  • Micellar water

If you’re opting for a cleansing balm, try going for one that comes in a container with a spatula.

Digging inside with your bare fingers is a recipe for contaminated disaster, we just don’t do that here.

Cleansing oils are lighter and more viscous, usually found in screw top or pump bottles. I love the pumps, I’m sure you would too.

Micellar water is the most popular out of the three, owing to its affordability. It does a fairly okay job of getting your daily makeup off but falls short when it comes to heavy-duty glam.

However, if you’re new to the double cleanse business, micellar water is relatively fuss-free and perfect to throw in your travel kit.

I’m not kidding, I’ve noticed impressive results with consistent use; Well, keyword: consistent.

My skin feels bouncier, plump, and hydrated. I love massaging in the balm while emulsifying it on my face, taking my sweet time to get into the corners and crevices.

This not only helps improve blood circulation but is insanely therapeutic as an end-of-the-day ritual!

Even though I have super oily, acne-prone skin, oil-based cleansers have never broken me out to date.

I just make sure to avoid comedogenic products or ingredient lists with fragrances and essential oils in them.

Truth be told, I look forward to cleansing my face at night before I hit the bed all relaxed and rejuvenated. Life’s all about finding those little moments of joy.

I hope you get inspired and incorporate double cleansing in your daily routine, then watch as your skin starts glowing in just a few weeks!
